Loulou is Top 105 and Top Boat Overall at Larchmont

The final weekend of Larchmont Race Week may have been a bust for most (no wind on Sunday; one bizarre race on Saturday), but it worked out just fine for Paul Beaudin and team loulou (note: loulou is all lower case except when cited in headlines, which seems to be happening more and more).  Although Beaudin pretty much flubbed Saturday’s race, it didn’t matter because it introduced a throwout into the scoring.  So loulou’s sixth got bracketed and Beaudin scored only his four bullets from the weekend before.   The tally not only gave him first in the J-105 class but won the vote for Best Overall Performance at LRW.

In fairness to Beaudin, Saturday’s race featured a 180 degree windshift that pretty much turned the fleet topsy turvey.  The chief beneficiary of the windshift were Jermey Henderson’s and Harald Edegran’s Conundrum, which won the race–finally ending loulou’s string of 8 straight  J105 race victories.  The victory also moved Conundrum into third for the regatta/

In second, and perhaps showing that Saturday’s event wasn’t all attributable to the the fickle finger of fluky air, was Revelation.  That finish cemented Revelation’s second place overall for the event.  Fourth went to Carl Olsson on Morning Glory and fifth to Glenn Marck on Bottle Rocket.   Nine boats participated in the event.

Loulou’s ongoing local tear is setting up an interesting showdown in the fall when Eclipse, Kincsem, Kestrel, and Gumption3 are set to return from their adventures in Newport and Marblehead.

Kevin Grainger actually was spotted at Larchmont racing his new Etchells (also named Gumption3).  He finished tied for first in a six boat event.  The other Gumption3 is in Marblehead awaiting the NOOD and NAs.
